8 Awesome Ideas for Kids’ Party Snacks
Planning a party for a child can be stressful. You want to make sure your child and his or her friends have a great time with all the activities. And you want everyone to enjoy the food too. But having too many sugary filled treats is never a good idea. Kids love snacks but did you know that you can get them to love healthy snacks too? It’s true! Put out some of these healthy snacks for kids that you can feel good about serving and the kids will feel good about eating!
1. Cheese shapes
Everyone loves cheese! It’s full of protein and it’s great for a party platter. Make it extra fun by using cookie cutters to cut cheese into fun and exciting shapes.
2. Fruit smoothies
Make a cool and refreshing treat of fresh fruit and Greek yogurt and garnish with wedges of fruit on the side. Kids will think they’re getting a decadent ice cream treat but you’ll be giving them a good healthy snack of vitamins and minerals.
3. Yogurt pops
Instead of ice cream, use those popsicle molds to freeze up yogurt whipped with fresh fruits. Top it with granola for an extra crunch at the finish!
Who can say no to tortillas filled with melted cheese? Mix in some beans, salsa, chicken and veggies and you’ve got a perfectly portable healthy snack that’s fit for a fiesta!
5. Hummus and veggie sticks
The main ingredient in hummus is chickpeas which are full of antioxidants. Hummus makes for a great dip that children can’t get enough of. They have no idea it’s so healthy. Serve it in small cups with a few sticks of carrots, celery or even cucumber to dip it in.
6. Snack mix
You can create a custom healthy snack mix that kids will love. The possibilities are endless! Try popcorn, mini-pretzels, craisins, almonds and coconut shreds. For extra fun, serve it in ice cream cones! Or of course, order up a chewswize snack box or two for the party ;-)
7. Apple smiles
Take two slices of red apples with the skin still on and place mini-marshmallows between them. You’ll create some tasty smiles that will make all the kids smile for sure!
8. Grape kabobs
You can make a totally creative healthy snack for kids with a little imagination, some seedless green grapes, mini-chocolate chips, white frosting and bamboo sticks. Simply skewer the grapes onto the bamboo sticks and then create eyes on the end grape with a tiny bit of frosting to hold the chocolate chips in place.
